I REACHED THE AGE OF FIFTY PLUS
I reached the age of fifty plus,
Still feeling an awkward wuss.
Carried careless playground scorn;
Worked many years,
Playing out my fears
In a job that made me yawn!
I crossed a chasm,
Felt like a spasm,
That propelled me towards life.
Yet despite some play,
Creativity, along the way;
The past cut into me like a knife.
So how to break loose
From this papoose;
So tightly clawing at freedom?
Untie the strings that bind me in,
And release my inner wisdom?
I’ll write a book,
With a powerful hook;
Full of wonderful wit and words.
So, if advice is took
By those who look,
They’ll rise above the starving herds
Of cattle, huddled close for comfort.
Strip back the fear, the shiny veneer,
That keeps them warm and safe;
Unleash the passion buried within
That at their hearts does chafe.
