Q. Where do you hail from?

I hail from western North Carolina in Brevard, which is near Asheville, NC, US. (Before moving here with my husband the year I turned 50, I/we lived mostly in Ohio. Joe asked for a divorce the year after we moved to North Carolina.)

Q. What one thing do you like most about where you live?

I love that there’s a sidewalk out front, so that I can walk downtown, to the post office and more.

Q. List no more than 5 words to describe yourself.

Welcoming, Loving, Peaceful, Joyful, Author

Q. At what age did you start writing?

Seven.

Q. What is the title of your book (or Believe story), and what inspired you to write it?

Divinity woke me up in 2014, telling me to write Go In Joy! An Alphabetical Adventure, using the lessons of my life to inspire readers.

Q. What influenced you to write about life and motivation?

I loved the Divine Assignment, because I’d been led to much healing, and when I earlier tried to write a memoir, I tired of my own story. Being given the task to use the lessons of my life to inspire others…that was divine perfection.

Q. How do you wish to inspire others with your writing?

I wish that my books bless all who read them, offering gems for the journey.

Q. Do you feel your writing nature changed after you turned 50? If so, how?

Before turning 50, I facilitated classes called Writing with Spirit in my home church in Ohio, inspiring women to lean into poetry and journaling, two aspects of writing that long had fed my journey. This class inspired the students to take trips, leave jobs and more; the writing and synergy of the group enlivened the gathered to take risks.

A few years after my divorce at age 52, I wrote my first book, Go In Joy! An Alphabetical Adventure, a book of questions, essays and poems that inspires readers to change aspects of their lives to more deeply love them.

Q. How do you motivate yourself at age 50+?

I am motivated by a vision within my soul to spread joy, to inspire people to move from fear to love, enabling them to love moments.

Joy Resor at Sue Williams

Q. Do you believe you are living the life you have always wanted?

Yes! Hallelujah!

I am at home in my skin, adventuring to new places when I feel called and touching more lives than I ever felt possible.

Q. How has your writing affected your quality of life?

Keeping a journal for decades supported my journey living with awareness and connection to my higher Self. It’s been a place I could express what wasn’t working, so that I could potentially live in ways that worked better, as well as a place to play with words. Lots of poems emerged in my journals.

Q. Which book or author has most helped you change your life at the age of 50+?

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle profoundly affected my understanding of life, as did the book Callings by Gregg Lavoy.

Q. What piece of advice do you have for other women over the age of 50 that could help them live the rest of their lives in the best way possible?

I would advise them to open their hearts, following where they lead.

Q. Please share an inspiring or motivational excerpt from your current book?

Here’s a rhyme from my upcoming book, Designed to SHINE! Read Aloud Rhymes for Any Size Heart – Volume Two

BELIEVE in the goodness
Which lives inside you

No matter who says
It’s really not true.

You’re stardust on earth
With beauty to spare

Created from Love
That’s meant to be shared.

So lift up your chin
With the light that you shine

As you smile deep inside
Breathing joy, so divine.

BELIEVE in dear YOU!
You are who you are.

Your gifts and your talents
WILL HELP YOU GO FAR!

Q. What can we expect from you in the future?

That I’ll creatively express goodness in myriad ways and forms, with joy in my heart.

Q. How can we contact you or find out more about your books?
